My Story Suggestion

Here is a story suggestion that put up for consideration during the class story making process.

1

Late at night a gryphon is sitting amongst other gryphon like statues in their own wing of the gallery.
We see the gallery has just opened a new 'Equine Wing' (ambiguous and mysterious) side wing.

The camera moves and we see the 'Agate Egg of the Gryphons' - the pride and joy of all gryphons, sitting on it's own pedestal. Suddenly a small, and very fast mini horse sweeps in and steals it away. A Gryphon rallies the troops to reclaim the egg and destroy the equine foe. (horses are a gryphon's fiercest foe - serpents ans basilisks are also common enemies of gryphons)

2

Our gryphon shys away, as his fellow statues march off one by one. Our gryphon is beckoned, and he refuses once more only to be shoved forwards by a weathered gryphon statue, who nods (or something reassuring and believing).

3

Our gryphon walks forwards hesitantly and passes through the tall archway. As he heads down the corridor towards the centre of the equestrian gallery he passes small foal statues and carvings. None are violent (our gryphon is far larger than they are) the small things just keep blocking or tripping him as he moves past.

4

As our gryphon reaches the end of the hall he slowly approaches another high archway, headed with a sign naming the statue inside. He enters and we see the 'Agate Egg of the Gryphons' clutched in the mouse of a gigantic horse statue. The horse is surrounded by the broken gryphons who had left before our gryphon. A battle ensues and of course our gryphon wins, but not without wounds. He has lost his wings, but the metal horse statue is warped and bent with dents everywhere.
He could almost be unrecognisable - he has deformed rather than smashed because he is made of metal.

5

Our gryphon retrieves the 'Agate Egg of the Gryphons' and heads back home. The same small horse carvings block him and trip him as he goes along. Half way through he takes a deep breath and releases a massive squawk to let them know who is boss. They scurry away to the side of the room and let him and the wounded gryphons behind him pass through unhindered.

6

Our gryphon has returned with the confidence to lead his fellow gryphons. He now sits in the centre of the 'Gryphon Wing' surrounded by his fellow conflict-broken gryphons. He has become their leader, ready to protect them and lead them in the inevitable resurgence of their equine foe. Somewhere in the pack, a weathered Gryphon nods in approval (maybe).

outer problem: equestrian horses are a gryphon's fiercest foe
inner problem: fear, lack of confidence to stand up for himself
